Characters
Each character you create should have a backstory, history, thoughts, emotions, and more! Take the time to consider who you want to be and what role you want to play within the server.
Naming Your Character
Your character will need a name. Some rules to follow are...
You can't use the names of celebrities
Avoid the names of religious figures
Your character's name is how people will identify you in city. The name you choose may affect how those around you will interact with you, so keep that in mind when deciding on your name.
Types of Characters
Civilians - Characters in the server who are not affiliated with any department. This would be your normal, law-abiding citizens, criminal masterminds, business owners. and all those in-betweens that arent within a "government" standing position.
Police - Characters that keep the peace and uphold the law. Applications to join the LSPD can be found here!
EMS - Characters that are equipped to perform live saving treatments on people of all types. Applications for Ocean Medical can be found here!
Doing Actions In-character
if you want you character to do something that there isn't a prop/emote to get across to other players, use the text prompt "/me [action]" to display it to those around you. An example of this would be "/me hands candle"
These actions are ALWAYS from the first person POV. They can be used to describe items that you have, emotions you are feeling, injuries, and anything else that may help further a scene.
There are some limits to what can be done with these actions. You cannot tell others what to do or force something upon them using these commands. This would be considered Power-Gaming, as it would not allow the other player to respond or contribute to the scene.
In-Character (IC) and Out-Of-Character (OOC)
IC is used to refer to being in character. This essentially means putting yourself into the mind state of the character you are playing. You are "aware" of you're characters pain, emotions, thoughts, identity, and other information found within the characters perception of the city. While roleplaying, you always want to try to stay within character.
OOC is used to refer to yourself out of character. Talking OOC within game is not prohibited, as it breaks the immersion of other players and distrupts storylines. This would be called "breaking" and can ruin the RP of anyone else around you. If you need to talk OOC while within the server, use the text prompt "/ooc [message]" to say what you need to.
Getting Started
When you first enter the city, you’ll be prompted to create your character—give them a name, choose their look, and pick out some stylish clothes. Once you're done, you’ll spawn in your very own government-funded apartment. This place is yours forever, and you can’t lose it! Inside, you’ll find a stash for storage, a wardrobe for changing outfits, and a bed for resting.
You’ll start with a phone, some cash on hand, and a few thousand in the bank to get you started. Ready to explore? Use your third-eye (Left Alt) on the door to head out into the city.
Across the street, there’s a rental vehicle station that’s perfect for getting around until you’re ready to buy your own ride. For food and drinks, you can pop into any 24/7 convenience store or check your phone's Birdy or Yellowpages apps to find open restaurants and food spots—great for meeting people and making connections!
When it’s time to get a job, you have a few options. You can pick up local gigs like driving a bus or working the oil rigs by heading to City Hall. If you’re looking for something more hands-on, consider checking out local businesses to see who's hiring. You could even look into positions at Ocean Medical or with the LSPD if you're interested in healthcare or law enforcement!
